Last weekend two CGI and special effects heavy films fought for box office supremacy — Cowboys & Aliens and The Smurfs. They may sound like unlikely competitors but they gave each other a serious run for their money. Early box office estimates stated that both films tied for the number one spot, but the final estimates have been released and one of them edged the other out.
