The topless photos of Michelle Obama in a Spanish magazine has, of course, gone viral. It is all over the internet and people are going banana. But is it really that big of a deal? I mean of course it is wrong to superimpose a head on a topless body, but we all know the first lady would never pose for such a photo!


Magazine de Fuera de Serie is just trying to stir the pot and it looks like they have. The cover of their latest issue features Michelle Obama’s face resting upon the topless body of an 1800 slave. To be exact it is a famous painting called the Portrait D’Une NĂ©gresse. People are now deeming the cover “offensive and racist,” though the magazine says they were just trying to make an historical reference and gain a few thousand viral hits with the inspiring image that was first put on display back in 1800 by French artist Marie-Guillemine Benoist exhibited the Portrait D’Une NĂ©gresse at the Louvre’s annual salon. It was inspiring at the time because slavery had only been abolished six years prior and it was a symbol of women and black people’s rights.
