Tom Hiddleston is a RADA (Royal Academy of Dramatic Art) educated British actor. He is best known for his role as Loki in Kenneth Branagh’s ‘Thor’ opposite Chris Hemsworth (‘Snow White and The Huntsman’), but he has had some other notable roles such as, Captain Nicholls in Steven Spielberg’s World War I film ‘War Horse’, Freddie Page in ‘The Deep Blue Sea’ also starring, Rachel Weisz. He also played author F. Scott Fitzgerald in the Woody Allen film ‘Midnight in Paris’. He returned to his role as Loki in ‘The Avengers’ in 2012 and is set to reprise the character again for ‘Thor: The Dark World’ in 2013.
In his young career he has also played several popular roles on television, among them, Magnus Martinsson in the BBC detective drama ‘Wallander’, Bill Hazledine in ‘Suburban Shootout’, John Plumptre in the BBC period drama ‘Miss Austen Regrets’ and William Buxton in the BBC drama series ‘Return to Cranford’.
Recently he has been in the news because of his involvement in helping the United Nations affiliate UNICEF UK, on behalf of less privileged children around the world. He has joined the organization in a trip to Guinea, West Africa to observe the charity at work. Together with his loyal fans, who call themselves the ‘Hiddlestoners’ he has raised over £16,000 so far!
“As a supporter of UNICEF’s work for children, Tom will be meeting with Guinean children, families and communities. He’ll also be visiting several UNICEF projects, finding out about our work in child protection, education, and water and sanitation.” according to the organization.
