It is a sad day for the Houston Rockerts. Coach Kevin McHale’s daughter Alexandra Sasha McHale has died at the very young age of 23.

The news of Sasha McHale, as she was called by the those who knew her, death was announced by the team earlier today. Rockets owner Leslie Alexander released this statement on behalf of the team and the organization.

“I extend my deepest condolences to Kevin and Lynn for the loss of their beautiful daughter, Sasha, on Saturday afternoon. Kevin and Lynn are loving and dedicated parents who will need our continued support throughout this very difficult time. Our entire organization is mourning the McHale family’s loss and we ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.”

Alexandra McHale passed away on Saturday after suffering from Lupus, an auto-immune disease for many years. However an official cause of death has yet to be released so it is unclear as now if her disease had anything to do with her death. McHale was hospitalized on November 10th from what is believed to have been a disease related issue. Kevin took a leave of absence from the team so he could be in Minnesota with his family once his daughter was admitted to the hospital.

Her Twitter account, which lists her name as Sasha McHale, remains active for now but there hasn’t been a Tweet since November 3rd. Not even a Tweet about her death or announcing her death has been sent out. I am sure at some point the account will be made inactive. I will say this though by the looks of the Tweets she sent she loved her family, especially her dad. There doesn’t seem to be a long history of Tweets but none the less she seemed to enjoy life despite her illness. She may have been on Twitter but I couldn’t find a Facebook page for her, which was a little surprising.

Other than the fact that she was Kevin McHale’s daughter there is not a whole lot known about Alexandra McHale or Sasha McHale to those who knew her best. Her dad did a great job shielding his family from the public eye. What is known is that for some reason a young woman’s life was cut way to short and it could have to do with her suffering from the disease Lupus. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire McHale family during this very difficult time. If you have any additional information on Sasha or the death please feel free to share.
