This is a pretty disturbing one. Model Sheldon Stephens (photos below) originally came out with a nasty accusation against the man who does ELMO’s voice, claiming that he and Kevin Clash had sex when he was still underage. So what’s the problem, now?

The story hit, and people went crazy over it. How could it be that the man whose voice is heard by millions of children every day would do such a thing? Then all of a sudden the whole thing seemed to go away. I heard one morning talk show host ask the question: how much did that one cost?

Well, reports state that the accuser was apparently paid $125,000 to agree to this:

“Stephens agrees that immediately upon execution of this Agreement, his counsel, Andreozzi & Associates, P.C., shall release the [following] statement … ‘He [Stephens] wants it to be known that his sexual relationship with Mr. Clash was an adult consensual relationship.”

In other words, let’s just pile some dirt over the top of this thing and pretend it never happened.

End of story, right?

It turns out that money can’t buy everything. In this case, Stephens says he was under pressure to make the agreement and is now seeking to go back on it. In other words, he wants to stand by his story that he was only sixteen when he had sexual relations with the man behind ELMO’s ridiculous voice.

Now it makes the whole thing easier to believe. Even if he made up the story, $125,000 is usually enough to pay off someone who is up to no good. But when a person decides they would hand the money back to stick by their word, now that’s serious business.

I guess we will have to see what happens. He signed a deal and accepted the settlement. What happens if he changes his mind? Stay tuned to find out.
