The topless photos of Michelle Obama in a Spanish magazine has, of course, gone viral. It is all over the internet and people are going banana. But is it really that big of a deal? I mean of course it is wrong to superimpose a head on a topless body, but we all know the first lady would never pose for such a photo!

Magazine de Fuera de Serie is just trying to stir the pot and it looks like they have. The cover of their latest issue features Michelle Obama’s face resting upon the topless body of an 1800 slave. To be exact it is a famous painting called the Portrait D’Une Négresse. People are now deeming the cover “offensive and racist,” though the magazine says they were just trying to make an historical reference
The accompanying article translates to ‘Michelle Granddaughter of a Slave, Lady of America’. Both Mrs Obama’s great-great grandfather and great-great-great grandmother were slaves. Artist Karine Percheron-Daniels defends the cover, saying that it shows an ‘alternative unexpected reality’ by allowing the viewer to see ‘famous individuals in a different way’.
I am not offended by it at all. I think it is silly to make such a big deal out of something that was clearly done to provoke discussion and debate and gain attention. it has gone viral, making its way around the world. But it is not offensive. Michelle Obama herself did not pose topless, it is just a silly thing to get worked up over.
Other famous people join Michelle in the magazine, including; Barack Obama, former President Abraham Lincoln and Princess Diana.
So what are your thoughts on the Michelle Obama Topless Slave Photo in Magazine de Fuera de Serie? Did they succeed in getting you all worked up? What do you think their reasoning behind it is?
