Talk about overachieving kids! While some parents struggle to get their kids to read, Latanna Stone (photos below) is the 10-year old girl who competed in the prestigious U.S. Amateur Championship which began on Monday, August 6th 2012. She miraculously qualified for the tournament by posting a shocking 2-under-par 72 score in the regional qualifying tournament that was held in Florida during the month of March. As such, she became the youngest girl to ever compete in the women’s amateur championship tournament.
Biography: Latanna Stone is already an accomplished golfer at age 10. Prior to entering the 6th grade, she has already won over 100 local tournaments in and around Florida where she was born and raised. You can see some of her trophies in the picture down in our gallery.
She began golfing at the age of two years old with a phony golf club her dad made out of a broomstick. Since that child’s toy she has never looked back, only forward to what promises to be a remarkable pro career at the right time. First of course, she needs to get through 6th grade, high school, and college! Undoubtedly there are already colleges lining up for what will be tons of scholarship offers for the young lady and future star.
Latanna was born September 4th 2001 so she will turn 11 years old next month after the women’s amateur tournament is over. She resides in Tampa Bay, Florida, with her large family. Her mom and dad, Michael and Yuen Stone are the proud parents of three boys and two girls. And she is a shrimp! This golfing phenom stands just 4’8″ tall and weighs less than 100 pounds. Her eyes and hair color are both brown.

Note the 297 fans today which you can expect to swell to thousands within the year and tens of thousands in a few more years beyond. She recently tweeted (twice): “Thanks everyone for the well wishes i received for qualifying for the US Women Amateur. So happy and excited to play!”
