Nadja Drygalla of Germany’s rowing team is now facing a firestorm of controversy after the media in her home country began to report that her boyfriend could be a Neo-Nazi. The result? She has gotten the boot from the games.

Germany can’t afford to have a scandal like this. Even if it turns out to be a bunch of nonsense, this gal had to pack her bags and leave.

It all started when reports began to surface that her boyfriend had ties to a political group in Germany that is considered to be “far right.” I guess in that country that could mean that they are Neo-Nazis. From what I have heard they have A LOT less patience for Nazis in Germany than we do over here.

The Daily Mail describes the guy as a member of a “regional National Socialist group and had fought a state election for the far-right National Democratic Party.”

That is confusing, but to me it means he isn’t a very open minded person. It’s hard to tell if her boyfriend really is an extremist, but regardless, Nadja is on her way back to Germany.

So far the German Rowing Federation says they are going to look into the scandal as soon as the Olympic Games end. I’m sure if they can prove any of it she will be officially kicked off the team.

A spokesman for the Federation said “We will have another conversation with Nadja Drygalla in august after the Olympic Games…After that we will decide together how to proceed.’

I hope this girl studied something else in school because she might be done with rowing for good after this.

What’s interesting is that the officials in London don’t seem to have any problem with her. A spokesman for the Olympic Committee said:

“There is no issue for us regarding the rower. I have seen the report. But as far as the Games are concerned, she has not done anything wrong.”

I guess that just means that they aren’t very worried about her personal life, but I can see how the Germans would be.

Check out some video of Nadja Drygalla below. It’s in German, but has a good pic of her in the beginning.
