Is there a Lauren Perdue, LeBron James relationship brewing? Well, we sure hope not because the best Basketball player in the world has already put a ring on his girlfriend’s finger!
Either way, we think this is cute. It all started when Perdue, who is a Gold Medalist swimmer for Team USA tweeted a photo of herself with LeBron at the Olympic village.
Shortly after she Tweeted that he invited her to dinner:
“Lebron James just invited me to dinner… Um wuuuutttt?!?’
Sounds like she is REALLY starstruck. Anyway, Lauren is no slouch herself. This time around in the Olympics she already won a gold medal for 4x200M relay. The men’s basketball team hopes to do the same this year after an embarrassing performance last time around.
Anyway poor Lauren had to decline the invitation because of curfew restrictions. Guess what? Just a few days afterward she won the gold medal. Maybe if she went to dinner with him she would have been too distracted to swim her best, who knows?
I guess she realized that he was engaged because she deleted the Tweet! It was too late, though because people started retweeting it like crazy. She eventually was asked about it during an interview.
Here’s how she describes the encounter:
“‘He was kind of joking but he was basically like, ‘Would you like to come eat with me at the dining hall?’
“‘And I said, ‘Um, I’m sorry, I have a curfew. So I turned that one down, yeah.”
Okay, so when you get asked to the “dining hall” it sounds a little bit different than a date, but it makes for a pretty romantic Olympic story after all.
So both athletes will go on to crushing the competition. But that will be about it for their little rendezvous I guess.
