Have you heard of Lauri Burns, prostitute turned hero? Well, let me fill you in on am amazing, inspirational story about a survivor who beat the odds, and see some of her photos here.

Her life was in ruins. Lauri was being beaten, she was addicted to drugs, and she was selling herself on the streets.
It all started when she was living in an abusive situation at home. Her family problems lead her down the typical road: drugs, petty crime, etc. She got herself into trouble at a young age and was headed down a really dangerous path.
Eventually she would turn to prostitution. It was a hard time for her that almost ended her life. One time she was almost beaten completely to death by a customer. Lauri says that is what caused her to change her life.
She turned things around completely and even went to school to learn computer programming. This gave her the chance to get a serious job with a defense contractor.
But now she is in the news because she is working hard to make sure that the same thing doesn’t happen to other young girls who are troubled. Lauri has opened up a “drop-in” center in California that she hopes will give girls in that situation a place to go.
She got her life together, and wants to make sure other girls have the same chance.
Burns also raised the funds for a Teen Project home in Mission Viejo, California where she lets foster kids stay for up to two years. The house, which is five bedrooms, has a full time den mom to make sure the girls stay on track.
Can you ever say enough about someone like this? Sometimes people who become successful don’t take enough time to give back. It’s one thing to just throw money at something, and it’s another to actually get involved. The girls she takes in will see that it’s possible to make something of yourself no matter what may have happened to them in the past.
A true hero. Lauri Burns. See the mugshot photo of her back in the 80s below.
