When we read about men going nuts it is almost always over women. Christina Lopez Cornejo (photos below), known to her friends as Christina Cornejo or sometimes Christine, is apparently the beautiful woman dedicated to her country who inspired a carjacker’s rage which ended in tragedy for both her and him. She is Brian Hedglin’s girlfriend, the man who stole an airplane in Utah and drove it like a bumper car around the airport. You can see a video report below.

The selfish man killed Christina several days prior and was on the run from police. Eventually he broke into the St George airport at night while it was closed and attempted to fly off in an airplane. He is a passenger airline pilot for Skywest Airlines so he ought to have been able to fly the airplane but instead he crashed it into the terminal building and then smashed up a lot of cars in a parking lot before taking his own life with a hand gun. Who knows what intentions the crazed man had if he had ever gotten that airplane into the air so in a sense we are very lucky.
But that cannot be said for Ms. Cornejo, who because of the media attention on his sensational escapade in Utah is somehow getting overlooked by the public as the true victim in this story. We want to tell you what we know about her so our readers can have a sense of this poor woman who did not deserve the same fate that her boyfriend deserved.
Christina Cornejo was originally from Newark, New Jersey but living in Colorado Springs. She was only 39 years old at the time of her tragic passing, just one year younger than her ex-boyfriend. She was a servant to our nation as a member of the Colorado National Guard. Many people do that part-time, but she was full time on the job and an officer. You can find her Linkedin page here where she changes the spelling of her first name to Christine but the biographical information is not present beyond her service in the U.S. Army.
Much more revealing is her Facebook page located over here (using her middle name “Lopez”) which depicts the beautiful woman full of the joys of life. There are several photos of her and a beautiful tranquil picture of a water scene which is so calming. We understand that she had dated Brian for four years before breaking up with him earlier this year in March, 2012. But like many men who just cannot let go, he reportedly began harassing her in March and was eventually arrested for it. He was out on bail from jail when he apparently killed her in a rage. Her body was actually found in his own home although whether she went there willingly or was abducted is unknown to investigators so far.
