Usually it is the rich husband who screws his family by running off with frivolous women, but world renowned artist Damien Hirst’s girlfriend has turned the tables on him. Maia Norman is flying the coop to join British mercenary Tim Spicer in bed, and the art world is stunned by the scandal.

The intriguing love triangle coupled with supposed disloyalty is rocking the art world, with accusations of Tim Spicer being a home-wrecker. He is the so-called “soldier of fortune” who reportedly made millions of dollars by dealing arms. He was a Lieutenant Colonel in the Scottish Guards (army) and now runs a lucrative military security firm called Aegis Defence Services which sells weaponry to the allied nations fighting wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

But we are not to judge him or Maia Norman. In matters of the heart, passions often take over and get the better of judgment and there is nothing anyone has said since the beginning of time to change this biological fact. And nobody truly knows what went on behind the scenes in her long-term relationship with Hurst. Everyone thought it was the most stable relationship in the art world, but we thought that about Thomas Kinkade as well. Oh well. Lesson learned. Biography: Maia Norman is originally from California but spends most of her time with her long-time boyfriend in England. They own (well, he owns) a huge estate there, converted from an historic inn, which is located near the sleepy town of Combe Martin in Devon, England. When the weather gets cold, they often get going to Mexico where he owns another estate along the Baja peninsula which doubles as a peaceful, inspirational art studio along the gorgeous Pacific Ocean.

Maia was born in Orange Country in Southern California but moved to Paris, France in 1983 where she studied fashion design. From there off to England where she bumped into the man she would eventually fall in love with and father her children. She is an artist in her own right with her own fashion line. Miss Norman co-founded a fashion company called Mother of Pearl in 2002 with her vision to bring “sporty and sexy elements to street-wear and evening-wear.” Many of the pieces in her collection are inspired by collaborating with visual artists such as her boyfriend and many others.

She is a stunning woman both outside and in.

The couple have three children together, all boys born in England, ranging in ages from seven to seventeen. The oldest Connor Ojala Hirst was born in 1995, while the youngest Cyrus Joe was born in 2005. Sandwiched between them is Cassius Atticus who was born in 2000 and turns twelve years old this year. There is a family photo below which includes the boys in happier times. No matter how Damien feels about their breakup, it is always the children who suffer most in these splits.

Undoubtedly Maia Norman has had to deal with a lot in their relationship. Her famous lover had drug addictions and alcohol problems beginning twenty years ago that he has supposedly kicked. During that time he was a wild man of sorts, exhibiting eccentric behavior, partying, and generally carrying on like a lot of immature men who fall into money and fame do.

In shopping as in love, she is quick to make decisions. “I think I can say I shop fast and furiously, because I know what I want and when I see what I like, I know that I want to get it, so shop assistants love me.” What we don’t know is if she gets buyers remorse for making quick decisions. That is often the case when women jump away from their families but Tim will have to wait and see.
