The worlds of upperclass teens and washed up rappers are about to collide in Adam Sandler’s next flick I Hate You Dad. The comedy is headlined by Sandler and fellow Saturday Night Live star Andy Samberg, and according to several sources they’ll be joined by Gossip Girl’s Leighton Meester and former rapper Vanilla Ice.

Not only will these unlikely forces collaborate on the project, but there’s word that Oscar nominee James Caan is also in talks to co-star. I Hate You Dad will be directed by the duo of Sean Anders and John Morris, who previously helmed the Jim Carrey flick Mr. Popper’s Penguins.

The title I Hate You Dad is pretty self-explanatory when it comes to the plot. The film centers on a father and son, played by Sandler and Samberg, who have a rocky relationship. If you’re thinking the actors are too close in age for this type of casting, you’re right. There’s only a 12 year age difference between the two in real life.

The movie will follow a father who moves in with his adult son shortly before he gets married. Ordinarily this wouldn’t be a major problem, but the dad and the fiancee’ hate each other immediately. Someone’s going to get caught in the middle and it will probably be the son. Meester will play the unfortunate fiancee’ in the scenario.

As for Vanilla Ice (Robert Van Winkle) and James Caan, the rapper will play a gay wedding coordinator named Antonio, who hails from Long Island (who saw that coming?), while Caan is in talks to play Meester’s father. We’d like to think that Mr. Ice Ice Baby being cast is a joke considering it’s April Fools Day but it seems to be legit. Are you excited about seeing I Hate You Dad? Could this be Vanilla Ice’s comeback?
