The only thing that creates more class envy than how the rich and famous live is how the rich and unknown live. Meet Rasha Said, whose luxurious over-the-top wedding in a time of global recession raised eyebrows around the world as she celebrated her special day of marital bliss with her lucky husband, Khaled Khawaja.

The wedding on May 25th was attended by dukes and earls, princesses and duchesses, and members of the political class. The event was worthy of a queen as no expense was spared for the elite who attended. In fact it is estimated to be the second most expensive wedding of this century, second only to the royal wedding last year. You remember that one? British superstar singer Robbie Williams (yes, the heartthrob) gave a two-hour private concert for the guests, while a fifteen foot layered wedding cake towered like Big Ben over the dining room. All of this occurring at the Palace of Versailles in France no less.
And I say why not? If you have the money spend it on what you like and damn the negative publicity. And employing waiters, cake makers, balloon blowers, seamstresses, parking attendants, cooks and taxi drivers is surely better than stashing your billions in bank accounts. In fact given the state of the financial system, best spend the money now before the run on the banks. Don’t let the sourpusses begrudge a girl having a good time.
Did I say billions? Yes I did. Rasha Said is the daughter of Wafic Said, who is a 72-year old tycoon in Great Britain and well-connected in political circles with the conservative government. He is a huge political donor and so is his daughter, since they have more money to spend than they can possibly know what to do with. He is one of the richest men in the world, and his beautiful daughter Rasha stand to gain quite a considerable inheritance someday in the not too distant future.
Biography: Rasha Said is a 26-year old socialite in Great Britain who lives in London, England. She attended the prestigious Brown University beginning in 2004 where her major was psychology and cognitive sciences. She bills herself now as an “Entrepreneur, Psychologist, and Life Enthusiast,” which sounds like someone who doesn’t have many worries in life, or much to do for that matter.
We do know that she has supported the UNICEF in Great Britain and is involved in some capacity with a company called Tucan.com. Their website hasn’t been built yet so we can’t tell you exactly what the project is all about, but we think it will somehow help orchestrate government loans for young people who want to start a business. Good for her giving a little of her time back to helping others.
A little political scandal is in her past. In 2005 Rasha was reportedly credited for giving over $50,000 to the conservative party in political donations. The problem? She was an unemployed teenager at the time and her dad was already maxed out on his donations for the year. Nothing came of the obvious allegation from the election commission, as the donation was suddenly attributed to her grandmother and the authorities who monitor such things found something better to worry about instead.

And so it begins …” Obviously she was happy about her big day, just as any new bride would be regardless of her means. By the way, her husband Khaled Khawaja shares the name of an infamous terrorist which is unfortunate for him, but your humble reporter can say with certainty that they are not the same person.
