This story is a good lesson in persistence so pay attention next time you don’t get your way. Cady Eimer has been bugging teen-heartthrob Justin Bieber to go to her high school senior prom for two years. He couldn’t make it, but took her instead to the Billboard Music Awards (BBMA) show on May 20th, 2012 in Las Vegas where she lived out her dream date in a different venue.

The fact that a girl like Cady Eimer can get noticed by celebrity stars is a remarkable function of social media. On Facebook and Twitter, just like in the voting booth, everyone starts out on equal footing. Your ability to be noticed depends wholly on your ability to attract friends who like your pages and want to follow you to the ends of the earth. So Cady Eimer took to her Twitter page over a year ago practically begging the teen music star to her high school prom. The event would be more than a year away, she figured, so plenty of time to use the bullhorn of social media. She and her friends organized an effort to shout out.

The effort involved Twitter hashtags and a special website set up by Cady called One Less Lonely Prom, plus a YouTube channel with videos made by her friends. Eventually the story was picked up in the mainstream media. Stories about Cady began to appear in OK Magazine and The Huffington Post among other cute stories on smaller blogs like this one. Eventually word got to the star that Cady was after him, so just like the Who’s down in Whoville shouting from a speck of dust to Horton the Elephant’s ears, he finally heard her.

You can visit the website effort here but it seems that its purposes has really been fulfilled in a different way. She went to the senior prom without Justin Bieber, but she had him instead at the Billboard Music Awards! Read more here.

He explained to the media what he asked Cady. “I couldn’t make it so I need you to fly to the Billboard Awards and you can be my date.” She’s a big fan the teen sensation thought it would be fun. Good for him. And good for her. What a way to make a young lady’s dream come true. His sweet invitation tweet which made her whole year said Justin inviting @cadyeimer (creator of http://onelesslonelyprom.com) to the Billboards!. We know that Cady did not walk the red carpet with him but she took some great photos inside and got helping taking photos with Justin and her sister Holli Eimer. You can see the pictures below. She looks stunning in that short black dress and so confident to go bare-legged. And no, it is not the same black dress she wore to her senor prom! Wasn’t it nice that Justin arranged for a car in Las Vegas?

As for her biography, Cady Elmer is now 18-years old and about to graduate from Poquoson High School in her hometown of Poquoson, Virginia. On her website she describes herself as a typical high school student who hangs out with friends and gets slurpees on hot days. In school she excels at history and English classes, and she does volunteer work on the side which shows a responsible young woman who cares about her community.

More than anything Cady loves music. She was accepted to Radford University starting this coming fall semester where she plans to major in music management and graduate in 2016. She has one sister named Holli Eimer who is younger, so it may be time for her to start reaching out for her own high-profile date. C’mon Holli, you can do it too! Just kidding. She actually got to go to the BBMA show as well, which you can see in the pictures below. She is the girl with brown hair while Cady has black.

In case you thought her effort was about publicity for herself you are wrong. Cady Eimer declined an appearance on Good Morning America that was scheduled for Monday morning, May 21st. She explained on Twitter “I will not be on Good Morning America tomorrow morning. I declined the interview. This was never about publicity for me.”
