This past week’s episode of “Glee” shed a little bit more light on the budding relationship between the characters of Lauren Zizes (played by Ashley Fink) and bad boy Puck (played by Mark Salling), and Ashley is speaking out about her character, the relationship, and what people should expect from her on “Glee”.

Every now and then people speak up about the need for more plus-sized role models in the media, and when we finally get one on “Glee” she is met with some pretty negative press from some pretty prominent people, and Ashley Fink doesn’t think that’s very cool.

Early this season we got to know Lauren Zizes a little bit better when she joined New Directions after saving Puck from a porta-potty. She’s strong, confident, and really doesn’t care what people think about her. This bad-ass attitude caught the attention of the hunky, yet troubled, Puck and he has spent the last few episodes trying to win her affection.

Great! A plus-sized lady with some serious swagger is scoring some much-deserved attention from the school hottie. You would think this would be great news, but not if you ask Rosie O’Donnell. In an interview with Access Hollywood she recently said:

“Every woman I know who’s heavy has strong feelings about that storyline. They’re like, ‘Can you believe that? I think that’s horrible. That never happens in school.”

She didn’t have much better things to say about Lauren Zizes’ singing debut either:

“I just was like, ‘Where’s the Susan Boyle moment? She’s gonna belt it out of the park!’ and then she did, ‘I know what boys like, I know what guys want’? I was like, ‘I want more than this.’”

Harsh words, Rosie. And for the record, Ashley Fink couldn’t agree less. She feels like her characters story line isn’t unrealistic. She is unashamed of her figure, and claims to have ruled the school and dated the cute boys when she was in high school. Anyone can do anything despite their size, and that includes singing whatever you want and dating the class stud. Take that!

She does, however, agree that Lauren could do more and even hinted that she might. The purpose behind that song choice was to tease Puck, and she was nervous. Ashley herself went to a performing arts high school, and can belt it out with the best of them, so hopefully we will get t see her skills soon.

What do you guys think of Ashley Fink’s character on “Glee”, Lauren Zizes? Do you agree with the storyline and her new romance? Would you like to see more of the character? Let us know by leaving us some comment love below, and be sure to check out this interview that Ashley did below!
