Sarah Hyland’s boyfriend just got an early birthday present. Matt Prokop, an actor in his own right and boyfriend of the Modern Family actress get a healthy girlfriend thanks to the generosity of her daddy during a kidney transplant.

She was diagnosed with kidney dysplasia when she was just nine years old so it was always a matter of time before she would need the big operation. She had been on dialysis for years, which may come as a shock to her fans who always see the beautiful Sarah so full of life on the television series. Her father Edward James Hyland donated his kidney for Hyland’s kidney transplant.
We don’t know if Matt Prokop volunteered to give up his own kidney to save her life. Sarah Hyland’s boyfriend would undoubtedly do so if his blood-type were consistent with the actress. At any rate, it is a big decision for anyone to make, particularly actors who are use to people doing things for them than the other way around.
But we do know in this story that Edward James Hyland is a hero. Perhaps any father would do the same for his daughter, but when push came to shove he came out and did it. Good for him, lucky for her, and lucky for Matt Prokop to have a healthy babe for the future. And Matt has been by her side ever since the operation, according to her.
“He helps me with my medication and takes me to doctor appointments and all the stuff that I need to do to take care of myself. Any other 21-year-old guy would not be there, I guarantee it. I am one of the luckiest people in the world to have him be there for me.”
And he is one lucky guy. Matt Prokop is of course the 21-year old actor perhaps best known for his role in High School Musical 3 with Vanessa Hudgens. He was born in the small town of Victoria, Texas, but that was no place for an aspiring actor to live. Matt set sail for Hollywood when he was only 16 years old and has had the kind of success at an early age that most aspiring actors bussing tables only dream about.
They have been dating for two years now after meeting on the set of the Disney movie, Geek Charming, where he costarred with Sarah. The couple hit it right off and are now in fact living together in blissful sin.
