Just when we thought the U.S. Secret Service hooker scandal had finished the news cycle, now they are naming names. Agent Arthur Huntington of Severna Park, Maryland is allegedly the man at the center of the fiasco who was reportedly too cheap to pay a Colombian escort’s fair living wage. Reputable news source CNN has outed the man who they say stiffed Colombian escort Dania Suarez at his hotel room in Cartagena, Colombia. You will recall that Secret Service agents reportedly brought prostitutes (or “escorts” as the case may be) back to their room at the Hotel Caribe there, after it is said a night of heavy drinking at strip clubs, when they were supposed to be laying the groundwork for President Obama’s foreign policy trip the following week. Their report says that Arthur H. Huntington, Jr is the man who supposedly argued with Miss Suarez about her whopper of a bill after waking up the following morning. We hear that hotel security was called to the room and later the police got involved. What ensued was a major international incident and pain in the ass embarrassment for the United States government. She got about $200, according to reports, but not the fair price(!) of $800 she says they had negotiated with Arthur the night before.
Who could blame him? Regardless of whether he did or didn’t, my advice to men: never negotiate with hookers when you have been drinking, especially if you want to keep your job and those of your coworkers. About ten agents are now resigning or getting sacked by the day as the scandal unfolds. Colombian escorts are tricky business partners.
So who is this alleged connoisseur of fine Colombian women? Biographical details are sketchy, but they report that Arthur Huntington is a married father of two young children, both boys. He lives at an address in Severna Park, Maryland, with his wife Jolie Huntington and kids next to some very supportive neighbors. Read their details here.
One of Huntington’s neighbors in Severna Park doesn’t believe the allegations. When asked by a reporter, she said “I would question the allegations. I know him and his character.”
That may very well be. In fact, I think it wise to withhold judgment until all the facts are out in this case. When asked to weigh the word of Colombian escorts against the word of a true blue Secret Service agent of the United States government, it does give one pause for reflection.
On the other hand, Huntington has reportedly resigned or been fired from his government job, and his house was put up for sale. The home contains four bedroom and 1.5 bathrooms and 1,900 square feet of living space on a quarter-acre lot with a listing price of $465,000. $800 is a fair price for full service and spending the night. Hello? Where in the world did he come up with $28 to pay her. A babysitter staying the night wouldn’t even be that cheap and she sure as hell wouldn’t fuck him.
