Meet Kaely Kwitek, the 16-year old teenage girl who has a date with New Jersey Nets’ Kris Humphries! But before you smell a scandal, read about this heart warming story here.

Kaely is a cancer patient who lives in Orchard Park, New York. She has stage 4 lymphoma and happens to be the world’s biggest fan of a certain someone on the Nets. She is also a cheerleader on the varsity squad at Orchard Park High School. And we think based on the photo of Kaely Kwitek above, she should be a Nets Dancer (official name for the pro team’s cheerleaders) when she turns 18.

You can see another picture and read more about her on the cheerleader page. Kaely dreams of being a Kindergarten teacher (awwww!) someday, loves Taylor Swift and math classes. She wants to visit Italy so maybe Kris can take her there!

This tale began several weeks ago when friends of Kaely Kwitek started a twitter account @Kris4Kaely in which she professed her profound admiration for the Nets’ heartthrob. She, like a million other girls on the east coast have noticed Kris.

Of course we all noticed Kris after his breakup with Kim Kardashian after the world’s shortest marriage. Women around the world cheered or jeered depending on whose side of the fence you were on, most of the jeering directed at Kim. So Kaely sprung into action just like we all secretly wanted to do. She is a young woman of action.

And Kaely has great friends. The original plan was to get her Man to attend a benefit fundraiser on May 6th so they tweeted him incessantly about it. One thing led to another and eventually the basketball star got in touch with her after noticing the tweets. On April 21st he tweeted what she had been waiting to hear, very simply: “We e-mailed you guys!”

And he one upped her. Rather than attending the benefit, she has now been invited (with her family of course) to attend one of the Nets final games of the season. There she will sit in MVP seating and meet Kris after the game.

So if you thought you knew him already, we invite you to look again. Not only is he a handsome athletic hunk, but now we know he has a heart of gold. Kim’s loss is Kaely Kwitek’s gain.
