Will Ryan Seacrest replace Matt Lauer on the Today Show?

Could Ryan Seacrest be the next host on NBC’s “Today Show”?

NBC executives including the “Today” executive producer Jim Bell and Lsuren Knapp have met with Ryan Seacrest to talk about him possibly taking the current co-anchor Matt Lauer’s place. Seacrest currently hosts a top radio show as well as American Idol.

Representatives in the Seacrest camp have not commented.

Lauer has been a co-anchor since 1997 on the “Today” show and his contract is scheduled to end sometime next year. Many have speculated that once that happens he will be leaving the show.

Reports have been made that if Lauer does leave Seacrest would be the best and number once choice for the job.

It is unclear how Seacrest, who is also the host of “American Idol,” would handle the move, given all his current responsibilities. Bringing Seacrest over to a news anchor position could possibly upset others in line for the job who have more experience in the field.

What do you think would Ryan Seacrest be a good replacement for Matt Lauer?
