Yes, Lady Gaga returns to pop music with the hopes of a comeback album after the critically panned ‘ARTPOP’ album of 2013. Her three-year absence saw her make a foray into classic jazz alongside legendary singer Tony Bennett with their ‘Cheek to Cheek’ album and world tour.

But for those who thought the singer who rose to fame with ‘Poker Face’ and ‘Just Dance’ and the likes in 2009 was fading into obscurity, well, the marketing machine, at least lives on as she’s been tapped at the performer for next year’s Super Bowl, and before that a nw tour, the ‘Bud Light + Lady Gaga Dive Bar Tour.’ Yes, the marketing lumbers on.

Once again, Lady Gaga is reinventing herself. Just months ago, she was seen in ‘American Horror Story: Hotel’ and before that, drew an international audience at the Oscars, performing the Oscar-nominated song, ‘Till It Happens to You’ from the documentary ‘The Hunting Ground,’ alongside sexual assault survivors.

In a recent interview she said of the new album and her collaborators — who include Mark Ronson, BloodPop, Florence Welch of Florence + The Machine, and Beck among others — “We wanted to make something that sounds brand-new, and we wanted to make something that’s also pop, but we wanted it also to be authentic and change things up a bit. We love making music, and we’re trying to change the landscape of how music is now.”

Taking to the stage on Saturday Night Live for the first time in three years, Lady Gaga performed two tracks from ‘Joanne’ — as mentioned, ‘A-Yo and ‘Million Reasons.’ The album itself has received decidedly mixed reviews. The comeback is not by any means a slam dunk but nonetheless we’ll be seeing plenty of her in the weeks to come, as SNL is just the start of what will be quite the blitz including countless interviews across all media and social media platforms.
