The wait is over. A new Depeche Mode album is on the way. The band announced that ‘Spirit’ is due out in the Spring of 2017. Additionally, the band supports the new album with a tour entitled the ‘Global Spirit’ tour that kicks off on May 5th in Stockholm, Sweden.

The band’s full lineup — Dave Gahan, Andy Fletcher, Martin Gorer — made the announcement via Facebook Live (video below) in a press conference broadcast from Teatro dell’Arte at La Triennale di Milano. IT will be the 14th album from the band that has been around for more than three and a half decades, getting their start way back in 1980.

As Rolling Stone reports, Gahan said of the new album, “We’re working on the album with a new team: it’s produced by James Ford [of Simian Mobile Disco], and he’s helped us to make what we feel is a very incredible sounding record,…He was able to really guide us.”

Their most recent album, ‘Delta Machine’ was released in 2013 to critical acclaim. EW called it “the strongest album the group has put out this century” and NOW magazine, went a step further, calling it ” the best album of their career.”
