The 36-year old Eva Green rose to fame as a Bond Girl in Casino Royale, portraying Vesper Lynd opposite Daniel Craig. This time around, she’s the title character of the Tim Burton-directed screen adaptation of Ransom Riggs’ bestselling young adult novel ‘Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children.’ The fantastical tale sees her portraying a woman, as the title hints, can transform herself into a bird.

The highly anticipated movie boasts an impressive ensemble cast that includes Judi Dench, Samuel L. Jackson, Rupert Everett, Asa Butterfield, Chris O’Dowd, Allison Janney, Terence Stamp, and Ella Purnell.

On the red carpet at the New York premiere, held at Saks Fifth Avenue in Midtown Manhattan, she was the standout, wearing a muted red sleeveless Elie Saab gown with lacy side panels and bodice, a matching leather belt and a flowing, pleated chiffon-like skirt. Her makeup — and particularly her Kohl eyes and dark red lipstick — gave the outfit a Gothic look that’s generating quite a buzz among makeup aficionados.

In a recent interview, she said spoke about the character and the kind of preparations she underwent. She said, “II watched some documentaries on birds. It was kind of a challenge — I was trying to have little, sharp movements with my head and not much blinking at all, using my hands like claws, my long nails.”

She went on to say, “You always worry that you’re going a bit over the top, but I had a lot of fun … playing her like Mary Poppins on speed.”

Now that’s an intriguing descriptor! There’s much anticipation for the movie, needless to say, this being the latest movie from Tim Burton since the critically acclaimed 2014 biopic ‘Big Eyes,’ which saw Amy Adams portray artist Margaret Keane.
