Several months after Prince’s shocking and untimely death at age 57 at his Paisley Park Studios near Minneapolis, Minnesota the band made good on an earlier promise to get together to pay tribute. The Revolution was Prince’s band during much of the 1980s and featured on some of his most iconic hits. It was just days after his death that the band announced in a video posted to Facebook that they planned to reunite.

According to EW, the members of The Revolution who took part in the live concert were Lisa Coleman, Wendy Melvoin, Mark Brown, Dez Dickerson, Dr. Fink, and Bobby Z.

The band delivered an emotional and spirited 19-song concert (set-list below) at the legendary venue in Minneapolis, First Avenue. Filling in for Prince on the vocals was guitarist Melvoin.

There were some notable guest appearances including Bilal who delivered a stunning performance of ‘The Beautiful One’ thus reprising his show-stopping contribution to the BET Awards tribute to Prince which saw numerous artists take part.

Apollonia — Prince’s protege former girlfriend and co-star in ‘Purple Rain’ –appeared on stage during the encore. She recently penned and posted to Facebook a powerful and heartbreaking open letter in tribute, which read in part, “I miss you so much, the pain is unbearable, making it hard to breathe.”
