Rick Ross opens up about the diet and fitness secrets that have enabled him to lose 75 pounds. The rapper and founder of Maybach Music Group also opened up about the health scare that became his impetus to for weight loss.

At his heaviest, the now 40-year-old Rick Ross weighed 350 pounds, but those days are long gone. He’s been in the news of late as his collaboration with Jared Leto and Skrillex ‘Purple Lamborghini’ for ‘Suicide Squad’ was just released, In music video (below) he’s dapper in a white suit, sporting his now much leaner physique.

Over the years, he’s been steadily losing the weight and he opens up in ‘Men’s Health’ magazine about the journey he’s undergone.

It was in 2011 that he suffered multiple seizures while on board a plane and that was his wake-up call. Reflecting upon his success thus far, he said, “I’m happy. I’m still losing weight, and now I’m starting to build hard muscle in places.”

As for his fitness routine, Rick Ross adopted the ever-popular CrossFit developed by founder and CEO Greg Glassman; he dubbed his version “RossFit.”

He also revealed that while he uses a personal chef and adheres to healthy eating, he also allows himself indulgences. These forays are strictly regimented, between the hours of noon and five in the afternoon, once or twice a week at such eateries as Wingstop and Checkers.

He said, “If I quit all the things I loved cold turkey, I knew it would only be so long before I went back to my old ways.”

He also offered some words of encouragement to others, saying, “My advice for anyone looking to lose weight is to not make it feel like a job.”

So true. It’s clear he’s found the winning formula; a gradual weight loss and taking care that indulgences don’t become derailments.
