Blake Shelton’s concert on The Plaza was just a few weeks after his girlfriend Gwen Stefani dazzled the live audience as she embarked on her first tour in nearly a decade.

The couple’s romance dominates the news and talking about the one leads to talking about the other. Shelton, in his interview with Today Show crew, spoke about that very topic that’s been dominating headlines for months now, ever since the couple first got together last year on the set of NBC’s ‘The Voice’ after their respective divorces from Miranda Lambert and Gavvin Rossdale.

Shelton said of the album, “It’s kind of a timeline of the last year and a half of my life.”

He spoke about the song “Go Ahead and Break My Heart” and said, “It’s funny because I only started the song to impress her because we were getting to know each other.” He went on on to say he sent it to her unfinished and asked her to finish it. He went on to say, “She writes the next verse and it’s way better.”

He performed the song in the live concert and also gave a performance of ‘She’s Got a Way with Words.’ The song, with its pointed lines — notably “She put the ex in sex” and “she put a big F.U. in my future” — undeniably reference his former wife, Miranda Lambert. She just recently released her first post-divorce single ‘Vice’ that’s raising just as many eyebrows.

And so the confessional musical merry-go-round goes! We’re waiting now for Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale to drop a searing single of his own. And while we’re at it, we want to hear from Miranda Lambert’s new love, Anderson East. With that, our autobiographical playlist will be complete!
