Melanie Griffith opens up about life after her divorce from ex-husband Antonio Banderas in a red carpet interview. The actress, who turned heads in a sheer dress, also spoke about how she feels about her children growing up and moving on.
The 58-year-old actress gave a rare interview at the red carpet at Hallmark Channel Summer TCA event. She’s among the stars in Hallmark Channel’s movie, ‘ J.L. Family Ranch.’ She turned heads in her sheer black dress; you can see the photos below. She’s being applauded by fashionistas for embracing the sheer- and see-through fashion trend and for looking younger than society thinks a woman nearing 60 should look.
But time has moved on for the actress who rose to fame with such iconic 1980s movies as ‘Working Girl.’ Formerly married to a fellow icon of the era, Don Johnson of ‘Miami Vice’ fame she went on to marry Spanish actor and director Antonio Banderas. The marriage lasted 18 years until the couple’s split in 2014.
She told People magazine, “I’m having a very introspective time right now.” Elaborating, she added, “It’s an interesting time.”
She went on to reveal that it was not gloomy, as she said, “It’s just sort of nice.” She went on to speak of her three children including 19-year-old Stella Banderas, her only child with her ex- Antonio Banderas. She has two other children; 26-year-old Dakota Johnson of ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ fame with ex-husband Don Johnson as well as 30-year-old Alexander Bauer, whose father is ‘Ray Donovan’ star Steven Bauer, her first husband.
She said of them, “My kids are all great. They’re beautiful people. I’m single, and lonely, and bored, and confused – but then at the same time, totally curious. It’s almost like I have to throw myself out of the nest.”
Continuing, she added, “Life is moving on.” She went on to say, “My youngest, Stella, is starting USC in August, in two weeks.”
She spoke of what the transition is like for her, as her child leaves the nest, so to speak. She said, “She’ll be moving out, out. She’s got a dorm and everything. So that’s kind of a different thing. I won’t have any kids at home.”
She was asked the logical question, what about dating and finding someone again? Griffith said, ” “I’m still looking” But she went on to rule out online dating sites or apps saying, “F— no! Are you kidding? No. Good lord. That would be scary!”
Instead she’s leaning on tradition. She said, “”Looking across a crowded room, right? Isn’t that the thing?”
But then she went on to confirm that not only is she not seeing anyone but, in her words, “I’m not really looking, I’m just being, and I figure if I’m meant to have another relationship, I will, and if I’m not, then I won’t.”
