Britney Spears returns with a new single ‘Make Me’ featuring rapper G-Eazy and as the song tops the iTunes charts she opens up about her new album and what fans can expect. Get the latest scoop on the long-awaited 9th album from the pop music icon.
It’s been a little more than three years since ‘Britney Jean’ of 2013, and album that fell short of expectations, surprisingly debuting at No. 4 on the Billboard 200. This as she continued her residency in Las Vegas.
Now a new album that’s got the weight and gravitas of “comeback” is in the works. After all it’s been 17 years since her breakthrough with her iconic debut album “…Baby One More Time.”
That was quite literally half a lifetime ago for the now 34-year-old who first teased the new single with a tantalizing Instagram pic (below) of herself on the set of the ‘Make Me’ music video. She’s surrounded by shirtless men who are clearly not slackers when it comes to putting in time at the gym. And of course, same goes for the star herself who’s at her bikini body finest, as seen in the single cover art (also below).
She told E!News about the new album, saying, “It’s very exciting.” She went on to reveal, “I’ve been working on this project for a year and a half now, almost two years so it really means a lot to me. It’s my baby.”
What should we expect? “It’s a little melodic, a little more not so poppy.” Dropping even more ambiguous hints, she added, “It’s kind of chill. Very chill.”
Previously, she told E!News, “I’m working with some women who are amazing writers. I have ballads and, of course, dance music – fun cheeky sexy stuff.”
This ninth album, as of yet, has no title, and she’s tagged it in social media #B9, and so for fans the wait goes on even as the new single has finally dropped.
She recently dazzled the world with a showstopping medley performance of some of her greatest hits on the Billboard Music Awards and received the much-coveted Billboard Millennium Award, whose previous recipients were Beyoncé and posthumously, Whitney Houston. But if this new single is any indication, Britney Spears has no intention of fading into Las Vegas residency and rest-on-her-laurels malaise!
