Alicia Keys had debuted a new single, ‘In Common,’ and it’s the first from the multi-Grammy winning R&B superstar in four years. Listen to the infectious, Latin-infused song and get the details what more new music may be in store.
Yes, amazingly it has been four years since Alicia Keys’ last album, ‘Girl on Fire,’ of 2012 and before that, ‘The Element of Freedom’ of 2009. Now she’s back with a single that’s getting rave reviews.
‘In Common’ from her highly anticipated, and long awaited sixth studio album which, Billboard reports, is due out later this year although, as yet untitled and, as of now there’s no release date. The new single doesn’t exactly come out of the blue within a marketing context as the singer and pianist will be making an appearance on Saturday Night Live as musical guest. We can all but bet she’ll give the television debut performance of ‘In Common.’
The new single was produced by Canadian hitmaker producer Illangelo who produced such smash hits as The Weeknd’s ‘The Hills’ and Drake’s ‘Crew Love.’ And this sultry, club-ready, remix-ready song just might be yet another hit, with some media outlets, notably USA Today, already putting it on the “songs of the summer” watch list.
As for more music, Alicia Keys, recently caused quite a stir with a Snap chat video in which she promised fans that more music is on the way. Billboard also reports that she recently said to reporters “you’re definitely going to hear some new music” during her upcoming performance at the UEFA Champions League Final in Italy in May.
Alicia Keys recently made headlines as video clips of her tribute to Prince — on the day of his death — went viral on Instagram and YouTube. At the Tribeca Film Festival she delivered a stunning performance at a private concert of Prince’s ‘How Come U Don’t Call Me Anymore?’ the very song she covered on her brilliant multi-Grammy winning 2001 debut album, ‘Songs In A Minor.’ Billboard reports she said, “We lost someone very special. Prince showed me what it means to be an artist…how to be bold and brazen.”
Later this year, Alicia Keys will join NBC’s ‘The Voice’ as one of the four coaches alongside fellow newcomer, Miley Cyrus alongside veterans Adam Levine and Blake Shelton.
But in the meantime, until we have a full album to listen to we do have Alicia Keys ‘In Common’ and you can hear it in its entirety below.
