The news of the arrest of the 35-year-old member of the iconic 1990s boy band went viral. And, as is typical, the search for the Nick Carter booking photo (above) has become a frenzy even as early reports surface with paltry details of the circumstances.
According to TMZ, Carter was taken in to police custody at Hog’s Breath Saloon in Key West, Florida after what’s being reported as a “scuffle.” He was then arrested and charged with misdemeanor battery.
It marks his third arrest. Nick Carter was previously arrested in 2002 for an incident at a night club and, in 2005 he was arrested for DUI. He has been vocal in the past about his battles with drug and alcohol abuse, notably in appearances in the late 2000s on ‘The Dr. Phil Show’ and on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show.’
He told People magazine, in 2009, of his continuing recovery after years of addiction and, the diagnosis of cardiomyopathy which became his wake-up call and also motivated him to lose weight. He said at the time, “I don’t want to die…I don’t want to be that person people read about and think, ‘That’s sad that he couldn’t stop it and killed himself.'”
He was just recently in the public eye as a celebrity dancer on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ season 21 as the second place finisher with pro partner Sharna Burgess, losing to Bindi Irwin and pro partner Derek Hough. He also released his third solo album, ‘All American,’ during his tenure on the show. He revealed on the show that he and his wife, Lauren Kitt, are expecting a child, their first.
