The 34-year-old continues to draw accolades for making the leap from ‘Parks and Recreation’ fame but to ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ and ‘Jurassic World’ blockbuster movie super stardom. And it was in part his physical transformation that led to such career success.

In a new interview, with Heat Magazine in the UK (via Belfast Telegraph) he reflects upon his past days of being overweight contrasting it with his life now and says, “I’ve had to work very hard for the last year and a half. And I have no intention of ever letting myself slide again. I never want to go back to being the fat guy.”

He went on to discuss what it took to change his habits. He said, ““I had to change my whole way of thinking.” He went on to explain, “I had gotten into a frame of mind on Parks and Recreation, where I saw my character as someone who would just let himself go and party. I had become used to the idea of making a living as an actor by playing the fat friend who just makes you laugh.”

And for years, we saw this play out on television. He was that very character, Earlier this year he spoke with Men’s Health about his moment of truth that led him to intentional weight gain.

He said, “I saw myself in an episode, and in the matter of two moments very close together, I thought, “Oh my God, I’m getting fat.” And then almost immediately I did something else and I thought, “Holy crap, I’ve never seen myself funnier.” And I put the two together.” He then spoke of his unhealthy eating, including several burgers a day, and ballooning to nearly 300 pounds.

In an interview for Men’s Fitness, he revealed his weight loss routine which enabled him to lose 60 pounds in just six months, under the guidance of nutritionist Phil Goglia and following a workout routine from trainer Duffy Gaver and the rest, as we say, is history.

Now he has made his mark in Hollywood now as the chiseled superhero type. And for those who wondered, what’s happening next for Chris Pratt, sounds like his “fat friend” days are long over! You can see Chris Pratt’s before and after weight loss photos below!
