One Direction talked about their hiatus, confirming how long they expect it to last during the interview on ‘Alan Carr: Chatty Man’ which also saw band member Harry Styles respond to rumors that he is pursuing a solo career.
In one of their final interviews together before the scheduled hiatus, band members Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Liam Payne spoke about their time away from the spotlight which is fast approaching Even as their new album, ‘Made In The A.M’ rules the charts worldwide. 1D the opportunity to be upbeat and reassuring during their appearance on ‘Alan Carr: Chatty Man’ in the UK in front of a live audience of some of those admiring, and very vocal fans known worldwide as the Directioners.
Yes, fans have already seen the departure, months ago, of Zayn Malik who is now pursuing a solo career and has a record deal with RCA and now there are rumors about Harry Styles following that same route.
Styles denied the rumors and said, “We all write kind of separately and for other people and do stuff and bring it back, and that is it really.”
Niall Horan spoke about how the band envisions their down time and said, “This time last year I couldn’t have told you what I was doing, and that is what we are looking forward to. Not having to set an alarm every day.’
Liam Payne chimed in and said, “I suppose we are going to get bored because we are very busy minds. We all do the songwriting thing and that’s going to be the thing that keeps us within doing the stuff that we love too. It’s just the stage we have to miss.”
Louis Tomlinson on the other hand has a full plate as he and his girlfriend Briana Jungwirth are expecting their first child. He’s also been appearing on The X Factor UK, taking part in the Judge’ House stage of the competition. He said of it, “‘I mean I certainly really enjoyed the process because we have been through it before and it was great thing to be asked to do, but I don’t know. We’ll see.”
Host Alan Carr dutifully pressed to find out how long the band would be on hiatus, saying, “You are not going to be away for too long are you? Not years and years?” Tomlinson said in reply, “No. Let’s give it 18 months.”
Later in the interview, Payne expressed gratitude to the fans, saying, “I mean we say thank you a lot but I don’t think there is any amount of time you can stop saying thank you when something like this has happened to you.”
Continuing, he added, “Yeah it’s changed our lives so much and we are eternally grateful, and we will be back very soon.’
Tomlinson said, “What’s so great about this time is that we are going to find it nice to have the time to be bale to reflect and think about everything that we have done and I think it is important that the fans do that as well. We have done this together and it’s pretty incredible. So yeah, thank you.”
