Ed Sheeran’s live concert at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane, Australia, not only won him rave reviews from local critics, but videos (which you can see below) are going viral. The British singer-songwriter and guitarist has become a global star in just the past few years. Not just a string of memorable songs, including ‘A Team’ and ‘Lego House’ from years past, but touring with Taylor Swift’s Red tour certainly upped his profile in the music world.

And now with his album ‘X’ having cemented his superstar status, he’s been on a world tour for the better part of two years. And fans in Australia couldn’t be happier as he makes his way into the final leg of that long-running and critically acclaimed tour. It marks his second foray into Australia in less than a year, and it’s clear he hasn’t worn out his welcome.

And all the while, he continues touring as he always has, without a backing band. Just his guitar and his signature loop pedals. But when one has such talent, and one has written such emotionally powerful songs, and one can sing them with such an expressive and beautiful voice, the sonic pyrotechnics are unnecessary. Yes, not even in a stadium, such as in Brisbane, with a seating capacity of 50,000. Yes, it’s unique, and we might add extraordinary. The literal one-man band that he is has always added a mystique.

As Courier Mail notes, “On a song like Take It Back it’s a virtuoso performance of multi-tasking, setting up a wall of rhythm and harmonies, launching into an extended rap, detouring into Stevie Wonder’s Superstition and Bill Withers’ Ain’t No Sunshine.”
