Yes, we could safely say that for the 61-year-old Christie Brinkley 60 is the new 30. And of course we know that the iconic supermodel has won the genetic lottery, but it’s what she’s done over the years to enhance what she has that’s becoming more and more apparent. It’s no effort to be a gorgeous 21 year old, but try adding 40 years of chronological life. She has a new book ‘Timeless Beauty: Over 100 Tips, Secrets And Shortcuts To Looking Great.’ and we would have to say she’s an authority on the topic!

In an interview on the Today Show with co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, she shared a surprisingly simple anti-aging tip. She said, “Smile. It instantly lifts the face and it just lights up the room.”

She went on to acknowledge that genetics have given her an extreme advantage. She said, “I had a gorgeous mom. She was beautiful, so I lucked out there. But there is a lot that you can do, from what you eat, to exercise to the creams that you use on your face 24 hours a day. You’re so in control of that and you have a lot of influence there.”

She spoke about the importance of staying out of the sun, saying, “It’s the number one ager of our skin. Phot-oaging is the worst. It wreaks havoc.”

Christie Brinkley also shared her thoughts on cosmetic procedures and plastic surgery, saying, “I think there’s little things you can do with a dermatologist that can stave off major, giant surgery, which is really scary. But I’m all for, if something’s bothering you, fix it. At least, talk to somebody to see what it would take to fix it and see if that’s for you or not.”

In other interviews, Christie Brinkley has continued to tout the benefits of her vegan diet, citing it as a key factor to her physical well being. She told ELLE magazine earlier this year that she followed the example of her mother, saying, “She was like a bon vivant in that she just lived each day to the fullest. As soon as I became a vegetarian, she became a vegetarian.” She went on to say she has been vegan since 2011.

As for her top secrets for beauty and longevity she spoke of the importance of “a healthy diet—nutrition” as “an amazing way to contribute to your own well-being, and, of course, exercise and attitude.” She went on to say, “Adopting a really positive attitude can work wonders to adding years to your life, a spring to your step, a sparkle to your eye, and all of that.”

And clearly, it’s a strategy that’s working for her. Her new book is getting a lot of buzz and you can watch her talk about it and share some of her tips in the video below!
