Yes, the 63-year-old iconic actor and comedian, who rose to fame on the sitcom ‘Roseanne’ back in the Eighties and the Nineties has drawn notice once again as he marked his second red carpet appearance in recent weeks. This time around at the ‘Love the Coopers’ premiere in Hollywood he was far from the corpulent man we had been seeing on the big screen and the small screen. Previously, he upstaged everyone at the ‘Trumbo’ premiere, including the stars Bryan Cranston and Helen Mirren. No small feat, as they’re both typically headline grabbers.

He has remained mum for now on the weight loss and in lieu of a tell-all, one has to go back five years to a People magazine article, to get some clues. But, as we know this is the second time around in recent years that John Goodman has lost so much weight.

This time, it’s his trainer, celebrity fitness guru Mackie Shilstone, who tells The New York Post about the star’s latest success, and claims that he lost 100 pounds. Regardless of the exact number, it’s quite evident that he’s transformed!

Shilstone revealed that it was a two-year process, and that prior to embarking on any dietary changes, Goodman stopped drinking back in 2007. She said of the work he has done, “There needs to be strategic planning.” She went on to note, “This time, he really wanted to do it.”

She said he followed a “Mediterranean-style eating plan.” And that’s one of the best known diets in the world, and, has already worked for untold numbers. Shilstone went on to outline his fitness routine, and according to the publication, he exercised six days a week and made sure that everyday he was taking 10,000 to 12,000 steps. She said that he also incorporated work with both elliptical bicycle and treadmill to lose the weight.

So once again, as we know, there are no shortcuts, at least not for any lasting success. John Goodman may at some point open up about his weight loss journey and if he does we will most certainly update with his comments! So do check back.

Meanwhile, the transformation is marvelous, and especially when we juxtapose John Goodman’s before and after weight loss photos which you can see below!
