Justin Bieber spoke about former girlfriend Selena Gomez, confirming which songs on his Purpose album are about her and whether or not they might ever get back together. He also opened up about the infamous Bora Bora paparazzi photos. It made for a lively and revealing interview on the first day of Bieber Week on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
He’s back with an album titled ‘Purpose’ and celebrating with Bieber Week on Ellen DeGeneres Show. Yes, five full days of Justin Bieber culminating with an outdoor concert on Friday which is the same day the album is set for release.
It wasn’t that long ago that he was on his apology tour, and made a stop at this very same show. What a difference several months of focus and, yes, ‘purpose’ can make in revitalizing a career. Now, in the throes of his comeback it is he himself the brunt of what we can euphemistically call bad behavior, albeit lucrative, from a paparazzo who snapped those infamous full-frontal photos in Bora Bora and the tabloids and everyone else who insured that the world would see them.
He opened up in the interview, saying that he was unaware of the photos being snapped and that it was his manager Scooter Braun who informed him that his private parts were “on the Internet.”
He went on to speak about what it was like to see the pics, saying, “The first thing I saw was the censored one and it had like the black thing over it. And I was like, ‘Oh my goodness, I don’t know what this is going to look like,’ and then it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was gonna be.” He went on to add, “It wasn’t as terrible.”
Ellen DeGeneres dutifully asked about the woman he was with, Jayde Pierce, and pointing out, shall we say, the improbability of taking one’s clothes off for a “friend,” to which Justin Bieber said, “You’re making me blush.”
And yes, that was just the beginning of the blushing for this episode. Ellen DeGeneres then went on to get Justin Bieber to admit not only that some of the songs on his ‘Purpose’ album are about ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez, but she went on to name the three songs, leading him to merely affirm that yes, ‘What Do You Mean?,’ ‘Sorry,’ and ‘Mark My Words’ are indeed those three.
Justin Bieber then began to open up about Selena Gomez as his “first love” and how memories of her were triggered at times. And when Ellen DeGeneres asked if they might ever get back together he said, ‘Maybe.’ He continued, and said, “We have a lot of history together, and so I’m sure, I mean, it could possibly happen.’
He went on to say, “I think we’re both just on our own journeys of just figuring ourselves out, and I think maybe once we figure ourselves out ,we can come together and make an awesome duo or she’ll find someone awesome and I’ll find someone awesome. I just want her to be happy, honestly.”
And that was just the first day of the week-long residency on the show. Four more days of Bieber Week remain as, the long-awaited ‘Purpose’ album is released and it won’t be a surprise if it debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 although it will be a fierce battle with One Direction’s new album ‘Made In The A.M.’ and a bow to No. 2 is also likely.
