Meghan Trainor spoke with Ellen DeGeneres in what was her first interview after undergoing vocal chord surgery and it was a doozy as you can see below. She also took to the stage with John Legend to perform her hit single, ‘Like I’m Gonna Lose You.’
Yes, she is back and able to talk about it and, importantly, to sing once again. The 21-year-old ‘All About that Bass’ singer had to cancel her hugely popular M Train Tour to undergo the surgical procedure.
On ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show,’ she explained how she made the decision to have the vocal chord surgery because allowing the hemorrhaging to heal naturally, she was told would take four months. “Nobody has that time,” she said.
In opting for surgery, she said she was on vocal rest for two weeks and she went on to talk about how she used an text-to-speech app to communicate. “The phone is how I spoke to people,” she said
Asked by the host if she had met a boyfriend on the Internet during that time, she denied it, but went on to say, “There was a guy that I Instragrammed and I didn’t put a caption, so the whole world freaked out, a.k.a. all my Megatrons. All the fans were like, ‘What is this?'”
She went on to add, “It was just a little nothing. Nothing. Noting. But I did get a great song out of it.”
Asked about the song, “Lead Me On,” She said of it, “It’s sweet,” and sang a few bars.
And, later, as noted, further underscoring that, yes, she’s back on the pop music scene to the delight of the Megatrons, she performed her hit single, ‘Like I’m Gonna Lose You,’ from her major-label debut album ‘Title.’ On hand to sing it with her was her musical collaborator, Oscar- and Grammy-winning superstar with John Legend who also has been in the news lately as he and his wife, supermodel Chrissy Teigen are expecting their first child.
