John Goodman’s weight loss was on full display on the red carpet, and pictures have gone viral. Side-by-side before and after photos — which you can see here — reveal an astonishing physical transformation.
The 63-year-old veteran actor and comedian walked the red carpet the ‘Trumbo’ premiere at the BFI London Film Festival and he upstaged that of all of his costars.
Yes, all of them, including Bryan Cranston who portrays the title character screenwriter Dalton Trumbo, blacklisted in Hollywood during the McCarthy era of the 1950s. And yes, including the newly septuagenarian Helen Mirren whose age-defying glamour is always the talk of the red carpet. That’s an achievement right there, as we know it’s the women who typically get both the scrutiny and the accolades on the red carpet. John Goodman got much of the latter.
Yes, there are transformations, and then there are the jaw dropping ones. This one falls under that category easily. We get so used to seeing a celebrity drop 30, 40 or 50 pounds, and while that’s commendable and highly noticeable, John Goodman’s weight loss is in an entirely different realm. It’s more of what we’ve been accustomed to see on shows like ‘The Biggest Loser.’
It’s unknown how many pounds John Goodman lost, or what his starting weight was and what it is now. But pictures tell much more than the proverbial thousand words. And perhaps we’ll get the diet plan and the fitness secrets. But for now, we’ve got amazing pictures.
Throughout his years in the public eye, going all the way back to the sitcom ‘Roseanne’ in the 1980s and 1990s he was always a noticeably large man. In recent years, he admitted in an interview with David Letterman that he was, in his words “pushing 400 pounds.”
Well, one could safely bet he’s weighing significantly less than that now. A year and a half ago at the red carpet of the ‘Monuments Men’ (pics above and below) we saw the comedian much as we’ve seen him over the years. Well, those days, clearly are over!
