‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ star Dakota Johnson graces the cover of AnOther Magazine, and poses for daring and revealing photos. She also opens up about the movie that has brought her so much notoriety as well as ‘Black Mass’ her latest movie, and her unusual childhood.
The 25-year-old Dakota Johnson is also among the costars of ‘Black Mass,’ the much-discussed movie based on the life of Whitey Bulger, portrayed by Johnny Depp. She in turn portrays his girlfriend. But even being in a critically acclaimed flick about a real-life gangster doesn’t overshadow the ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ that made her an international star.
For many she’s just Anastasia Steele, the prey of Jamie Dornan’s Christian Grey whereas not so long ago she was just the offspring of Hollywood royalty, as the daughter Don Johnson of ‘Miami Vice’ fame and Melanie Griffith of ‘Working Girl’ fame, and grand daughter of Tippi Hedren of Hitchcock’s ‘The Birds’ fame. Yes, nothing like being in the screen adaptation of an internationally best-selling erotic novel to change one’s stature and ensure that, finally, one has fame to call one’s own.
In her interview with fashion mag ‘AnOther,’ she says of her upbringing in the days before she had even reached puberty she revealed that she traveled everywhere with her parents who married and got divorced, only to marry and divorce again. She said, “I’d go absolutely everywhere with them…It was the only way that I could be with them. And since they were divorced I would spend two weeks with one and two weeks with the other, travelling with a tutor.”
She spoke about what it was like working with Johnny Depp, saying, “It was cool because we have a connection in having known Hunter Thompson. My dad was quite close with Hunter.”
She reminisced about the late iconic journalist and author of such classics as ‘Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas,’ and’ The Rum Diary,’ saying of him, ” I spent a lot of time in Woody Creek as a kid and he was a magical person to me. He would come into the driveway at odd hours and rearrange rocks and things…He’d bring me odd gifts, like bird collars, or weird fishing gear.”
She also admitted that auditions are still challenging. She said, “Sometimes I panic to the point where I don’t know what I’m thinking or doing. I have a full anxiety attack.” She went on to say, “I have them all the time anyway, but with auditioning it’s bad. I’m so terrified of it. I have crippling self- doubt! But the things I’m the most afraid of, I run towards.”
