Brooke Burke-Charvet opens up about her fitness, weight loss and dieting secrets in a new interview. She reveals that she’s not a fan of Hollywood fad diets, and offers her healthy alternatives.
The 44-year-old Brooke Burke-Charvet may have risen to fame on Dancing with the Stars, both as winner and later as a longtime host of the show, but she’s had a long career before, during and after as a lifestyle and fitness guru. While some in Hollywood have drawn controversy for being in the lifestyle niche — certainly Gwyneth Paltrow and her Goop company come to mind — Burke-Charvet has unassumingly flourished. Not least because, as a mother of four children, and wife of former Baywatch star David Charvet, she leaves many wondering, what’s her secret.
In an interview with Today Show, she opens up on her approach. She said, “It’s just about making the right choices.” Clarifying, she added, “I don’t believe in these no-carb, trendy Hollywood diets. I think eating often and making good choices and making sure you give yourself room to enjoy as well is key.”
She went on to share some details of her daily life and perhaps, in the process, dispelling a few assumptions and revealing herself to be quite relatable to the average, non-celebrity whose life is not infused with glamour. She said, “I love to cook, so I don’t employ anyone to cook for me.” She went on to say that she doesn’t work out two hours a day “because I’m a working mom and don’t have time.”
Her fitness routine, she reveals is four to five times a week. She said, “”I try to do Soul Cycle one to two times a week and I also teach a class in Malibu called ‘Booty Burn.'” She described it as “a mind, body, spirit, rhythmic integrated workout that’s body lifting and sculpting.” She went on to add, “I do that, if I’m not working, three times a week.”
As for the kinds of meals she prepares for herself and her family she said, “I think it’s really easy to have a healthy lifestyle when it comes to food if you just experiment…I never skimp on flavor and I eat really well. I really believe in eating and finding things your belly enjoys.
