Lady Gaga graces the cover of CR Fashion Book in a stunning and unretouched photos by famed photographer Bruce Weber. She also opens up about the pressures she faces as an artist and as a woman in the public eye and the scrutiny she’s subjected to.
She burst onto the scene as a pop music star who went on to win several Grammys in the past few years, and making a foray into jazz with legendary singer Tony Bennett and their successful album and world tour. And now of late is venturing into acting, with a role on the hit series ‘American Horror Story: Hotel.’
It’s been the epitome of an ever-changing and ever evolving career, and it’s something she speaks of, in the pages of ‘CR Fashion Book.’
And she’s drawing even more of a buzz because, as a cover star, she’s bravely going unretouched, which E!News confirms via the magazine’s editor. The photos are quickly making their way in social media; you can see them below; she appears in bridal- and Goth-bridal-inspired costumes.
Lady Gaga herself offers her own reflections on the larger, more philosophical meaning of bold move. Of course there’s the usual expectation in this day and age, of being under much scrutiny which, let’s face it, is sadly unavoidable. But it’s a much deeper issue.
According to E!News, Lady Gaga opened up on these issues, and said, “As a 29-year-old girl, at this stage in my pop career everybody goes, ‘Oh she’s getting old,’ and everybody’s so worried about having a perfect body, a perfect face, and perfect hair.”
Yes, sadly, sadly true, especially as she’s on the verge of that milestone birthday of 30. Lady Gaga goes on to offer some thoughts on what really matters for a creative artist of any discipline. She says, “When, you know, actually, legacy and longevity is about having some sort of story and footprint to leave in the world when you die, chasing your talent until you’re dead. And that, as an artist, you love your art ’til death.”
She goes on to say, “”It’s the antithesis of what I was taught growing up, which is that at this age I would have to fight in order to continue to look young, in order to continue to be trendy.”
