Sharon Stone is stunning in a photo shoot in Harper’s Bazaar that leaves nothing to the imagination. The amazing pictures of the 57-year-old actress are becoming a sensation in social media. And these are not leaked, mind you, this is her choice to bear all in front of the watchful eye of the camera, and now the world.
Yes, barriers and stereotypes and downright outmoded notions need to be dismantled. Sometimes, a stunning photo shoot proves the proverbial picture worth more than thousands and thousands and thousands of words written about sexism and ageism.
And that’s how the barriers are coming down, as actresses who, by such outmoded notions, are past their prime prove otherwise. Earlier this year Jane Fonda made history as W magazine’s oldest cover star at 77. And 20 years young that than — Sharon Stone pushes the envelop in her own way by showing us, with strategically placed arms, her birthday suit. And it is stunning.
She’s one of the iconic sex symbols of the 1990s and her famous — some would say infamous — scene in Basic Instinct is still talked about and all over YouTube for those who didn’t experience it the first time around on the big screen.
And Sharon Stone, who’s often the target of paparazzi, is clearly a desirable woman, and she opens up about her intense struggles over the past several years, which go beyond sexism in Hollywood. Foremost, the Oscar-nominated actress is a survivor, who endured a brain hemorrhage in 2001 and, through intense effort, has bounced back.
She opens up about the experience, her road to recovery and the aftermath in the interview with Harper’s Bazaar. Summing up, she said, “I became more emotionally intelligent. I chose to work very hard to open up other parts of my mind. Now I’m stronger. And I can be abrasively direct. That scares people, but I think that’s not my problem.” She added, “It’s like, I have brain damage; you’ll just have to deal with it.”
And it is a miraculous recovery, which she opens up about, even as the Internet goes wild over her pictures. In fact, it’s not just the marvelous physique, but it’s her resurgence in Hollywood generating a buzz. She’s the star and executive producer of a new series on TNT, Agent X, which sees her portraying the U.S. Vice President.
She opens up about how she felt about exposing herself to the camera, and said, “I’m aware that my a-s looks like a bag of flapjacks but I’m not trying to be the best-looking broad in the world.” She continued, saying, “At a certain point you start asking yourself, ‘What really is sexy?’ It’s not just the elevation of your b–bs. It’s being present and having fun and liking yourself enough to like the person that’s with you.”
And yet, as she reveals in her interview she is having trouble getting a date. She tells the publication, “It’s so stupid. I don’t know what to do. I’ve been getting more brazen with flirting, but I don’t think men realize that I’m flirting. They just think, Oh, she’s fun!’”
It’s quite an amazing interview, as the star speaks with seemingly unstoppable candor, and those who know little about her other than that iconic scene, will get quite an education, and be inspired by her resilience.
