Demi Lovato graces the cover of Cosmopolitan magazine, and opens up about breakups with longtime boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama, which she says happened during her relapses. She also spoke about her new music and future plans, and posed for a typically tantalizing Cosmo cover shot and inside photo spread.
The 22-year-old pop music star has been everywhere of late with one of the hottest songs of the summer, appropriately titled ‘Cool for the Summer’ and a provocative music video to go along with it (which you can see below!).
She’s provocative in quite a different way in Cosmopolitan magazine. Yes, of course, as noted, it’s your typically enticing cover — which you can see below — for the mag which is known for such. She’s wearing a silver outfit with a plunging neckline, and we do mean plunging!
But when celebrities open up about their vulnerabilities and their struggles, the whole Internet jumps on such.
Demi Lovato spoke about her boyfriend of five years, Wilmer Valderrama and their relationship, saying, “The only times we ever broke up were when I was relapsing, whether it was drugs or in a bad place and rebelling against everybody, not just him.”
She went on to say, “People say that relapses happen before you use. Your mind starts setting up the relapse before you take that drink or that first hit. The times we’d broken up, I had already gone to that place of, Yeah, this is what’s happening. I didn’t realize it at the time, but I just wanted to sabotage everything around me so that I could sabotage myself.”
Yes, the author of the teen self-help book “Staying Strong: 365 Days A Year” is revealing her own struggles with maintaining sobriety. It is indeed a daily process. But as these candid admissions speak of the struggle that anyone who faces such past addictions and behavior faces. It is an ongoing process, and her candor, no doubt, will both inspire and provide comfort to many.
And as she has been exemplary as a role model, the music must play on, and she is back! As noted with that very hot summer song. She reflected about the pop music scene in generally, saying. “There are a lot of girls in pop. They have badass lyrics, but I feel like I’m the only person other than Rihanna and Nicki Minaj who isn’t afraid to say, ‘Try something on me and I’ll f–king beat your a-s.’ There are people who can dress up and play the part, but their music doesn’t say it.”
As for that new album and the new music, we’re left in anticipation! But it’s clear from the cover, the candor and the new single, the former Disney star is making that sometimes treacherous transition to full-fledged pop superstar, minus the offstage drama.
