Dylan Penn graces the cover of ASOS Mgazine, and shares her thoughts on being the daughter of Sean Penn and Robin Wright, how she deals with social media, and her future movie aspirations among other spicy topics. And the fashion photos reveal an ultra-eclectic style!
The 24-year-old model and actress, as the daughter of Hollywood A-listers is under the glare of the spotlight whether she wants it or not. So as she covers the online magazine of retailer ASOS, that naturally is a question she addresses.
She shared her thoughts about those parents known to the rest of the world as ‘House of Cards’ star Robin Wright and the Oscar-winning actor Sean Penn, saying, “Both my parents are always very honest with me … they’re not gonna bulls–t. They are very pushy for me to get out there and do it.”
And indeed she has. It’s no small coup to cover ASOS as she follows other stars who have done so, including the likes of Taylor Swift, Jennifer Lawrence, Lena Dunham, Lady Gaga, and Blake Lively among others. Being among such company is a bit of a coronation, in fact.
We need to start thinking of Dylan Penn as a star in her own right. And she did offer some tidbits on how she sees her future, saying, “I would love to make a film just with girls. I think it’s important that we’re represented in a way that’s truthful. I love Lena Dunham and these ballsy women who show the ugly side.”
As for social media and how she copes with it, she said, “I have a private Instagram and an official one, so I’m not opposed to social media.”
There you have it, a celebrity confirming a private Instagram account. No doubt this sends more than a few Instagram users off on an expedition to find and out the private account.
Penn goes on to reveal strong feelings about social media, saying, “I’m a really private person and I don’t understand the self thing. It’s such a part of our culture now… there’s no shame in getting your camera out and getting your perfect angle. It’s bizarre to me.”
Yes, it’s the proverbial breath of fresh air to hear a celebrity express some puzzlement about our increasingly selfie-driven culture. Those waiting for her coffee-table book of selfies are probably going to be disappointed!
