Amy Schumer graces the cover of GQ magazine’s Comedy Issue dressed as an edgy Princess Leia with a fondness for Star Wars’ R2-D2 and C-3PO, and we do mean fondness! The hilarious cover and inside photos are meme-worthy and going viral today and sure to become iconic tomorrow.
Leave it to the star of Comedy Central’s ‘Inside Amy Schumer’ to make the gigantic leap to the big screen in her first movie ‘Trainwreck’ in the most riotous way possible! This time she’s got some assistance from GQ in her quest.
She’s been everywhere, giving interviews with her signature candor as she promotes the Judd Apatow-directed comedy which she herself wrote. She portrays a single woman — named “Amy” no less — who likes to date and doesn’t want to settle down. If she were a man, would be considered normal but being that she’s a woman folks seem to to think explaining is involved.
She opened up on this very topic in a GQ essay two years ago, and now revisited in this context the observations are both amusing and NSFW (you’ve been warned!) and you can see them here. Yes, it’s just that kind of humor that’s catapulting her to fame. We’re clearly crying out for someone who doesn’t believe in playing it safe.
As for the ‘Trainwrek’ movie, it’s getting rave reviews. It will see SNL alum Bill Hader in his first turn ever as a romantic lead. If that weren’t enough to buzz about, there’s also NBA great LeBron James making his film debut.
