Miley Cyrus inducted Joan Jett at the 30th annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony in a most memorable way, and the video and photos have gone viral. Leave it to the always provocative pop music superstar to pay tribute in a most original way.
Once again, Miley Cyrus brings her signature outrageousness to the occasion. This time, she paid tribute to her idol Joan Jett in inducting her and The Blackhearts into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame during the 30th annual ceremony in Cleveland, Ohio.
While she’s drawn attention for the speech, her outfit — or perhaps lack of same — has drawn attention too. Now truth be told, we would expect nothing less from Miley Cyrus. This time, she let body parts do the talking as she wore pink pasties with the letter “J.” That’s quite the tribute. She was otherwise decked out in black leather, including a mini skirt, and accessorized with Alexander Wang creeper boots, whose stacked heels are not for the faint-hearted anymore than the rest of the outfit. You can see some of Miley Cyrus’ own Instagram pics of her eye-catching ensemble below.
As for the speech, when Miley Cyrus took to the stage, she didn’t disappoint here, either. She said of Joan Jett, the iconic rock star whose career dates back to the 1970s (and thus long before her 1990s birth), “I’m going to start off this induction with the first time I wanted to have sex with Joan Jett.”
After that provocative line, she went on to tell quite a story. She said, “We were doing Oprah together, and I went up to Joan’s hotel room. Joan opens the door, and I come in, and Kenny Laguna is laying in bed. I don’t know what the f–k is going on.”
From there she went on to recount a chaotic scene, complete with the “smell of pot” and many other details open for interpretation. She went on to speak of the rapt attention she gave her idol as they had a lengthy one-on-one conversation. She said, “I listened to her talk about her days with the Runaways. She talked about music. She talked about why she loves animals, and she doesn’t want to eat them. I was getting to have this moment with someone that, to me, is Superwoman. What Superwoman really should be.”
As Miley Cyrus concluded the speech, she said of the rock legend, “Joan’s music, her activism, who she is. In all of our lives, all of us are going to experience people who try to tell us who to be and what to be. F–k those people! Instead of changing for all those people, if you don’t like how the world is, change it yourself.”
Along with the memorable and unusual speech, Miley Cyrus also performed with Joan Jett, as they did a rendition of “Crimon & Clover.” The viral video of Miley Cyrus Inducting Joan Jett Into Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame is below, along with pictures!
