Ed Sheeran’s weight loss is making headlines and the singer attributes his success to a green juice diet and an overall healthier lifestyle. In an interview he revealed some of his dieting and fitness secrets.

The 24-year-old Grammy nominated British singer and guitarist has found international fame with such hits as ‘The A Team’ and ‘The Lego House’ and most recently, ‘Sing’ and ‘Don’t.’

Lately he’s been getting attention as media and social media alike notice his slimmed down physique. In an interview with The Sun in the UK, he said he had dropped three shirt sizes. He told the publication,”I’m now a small. I went from a large to a medium to a small. It’s my lifestyle. I haven’t really been healthy to my body and my body’s not liking it.”

He went on to elaborate and reveal that he was adopting a healthier diet. He said, “‘I’m not losing it because I’m eating well and going to the gym – I’ve started green juices because I’ve realised that I go to restaurants and get a steak and chips and broccoli and I’ll eat the steak and chips and leave the broccoli.”

He continued, saying, “So I said to the guy that does the food on our tour, “Can you just blend everything that I need?” And then I just down it.”

And thus his green juice diet. He went on to admit, “I’d like to be healthier but I just don’t enjoy working out…I enjoyed dancing, and I lost weight while dancing.”

Ed Sheeran went on to details some of his favorite physical activities, saying, “I could play football, I could do badminton. I just don’t enjoy running on a treadmill or doing weights or doing sit-ups.”

He went on to reveal that it was not just a matter of personal preference, but for him, there were some additional, underlying reasons for his decision to shun fitness routines.

He said, “It feels like it’s quite a vain thing to do too much. I think if you do it for health reasons, then it’s great but if you do it for image reasons – purely image reasons – I don’t think it makes sense.”

He shared his philosophy of how healthy living and body image are intertwined for him in saying, “I was never really happy with my image and then I realised it was because I was eating fried food and drinking beer every day.”

He added, “You don’t have to kill yourself by getting into shape. Just eat right and don’t drink every day.”
