The 41-year-old Eva Mendes gave birth last September to a daughter, Esmeralda, with boyfriend 34-year-old Ryan Gosling. The couple, arguably one of the most attractive in Hollywood, have been together since 2011, having met on the set of ‘The Place Beyond the Pines.’

She told AJ Calloway of Extra TV how she is coping with motherhood, and said, “I’m actually starting to sleep so I’m at a good place. Sleeping through the night, but every night is like, you never know. Something random can happen and it just suddenly is not sleeping through the night and you’re just like, ‘Wait, I thought we were sleeping through the night. What’s up?’ Why does it always happen at three or four in the morning?”

She also spoke of her deepening appreciation of her own mother, saying, “Now I understand so much, my mother’s never gotten more ‘I love you so much mommy’ texts, I mean, randomly. I get it now.”

And, too, when we think of Eva Mendes, we think of an actress who is the epitome of style and glamour and that begged the question that the interviewer asked. What is she like when she’s not facing cameras and walking the red carpet. Did she, perchance get casual at home and wear sweatpants?

She gave a most memorable answer, saying “Sweatpants, no, no, no, no. No, no, you can’t do sweatpants. Ladies, number one cause of divorce in America is sweatpants. No, you can’t do that.”

Yes, you can watch the video below, and count it out yourself;, she did say “no” seven times! She was just that emphatic in dispensing advice.

As for the expected post-baby body question — and her luminous appearance on the cover of Women’s Health magazine — she merely said of that stunning cover photo, “You’re helped in those situations, I want women at home to know, you’re lit, you’re angled, so yes, it was a few months after the baby, but with a lot of help.”
