Justin Bieber opened up about his roast on Comedy Central and spoke about past missteps and misdeeds in an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. He also pranked the studio audience by disguising himself. Missed it? Check out the video which has gone viral right here!
Justin Bieber returned to The Ellen DeGeneres Show, marking his second appearance this year, as he continues his apology tour and efforts to reinstate himself as a pop music superstar rather than one who makes headlines for legal woes and bad behavior.
It was just days after the Comedy Central roast, and before that his 21st birthday celebration in Las Vegas. All in all, it’s been a memorable few days for Justin Bieber and, fortunately, none of it has to do with the legal system.
He told host Ellen DeGeneres about the experience of being roasted, saying, “What a birthday present!” And when asked about the emotional speech he had delivered at the end of the roast, he opened up and said of it, “I was just talking about it being a new chapter for me, and basically saying that I’m sorry for the stuff that I’ve done.”
He went on to say, “I’m not searching for people’s approval. But I just want people to know that’s not me, and I was doing stuff that wasn’t me. A lot of times we pretend so that we can fit in, and then we end up looking like [expletive], and that was kind of me.”
As Ellen DeGeneres observed that he had risen to fame at the young age of 12, this prompted him to make an admission. He said, “It went to my head, and I had to let people pull me down for me to see the truth and see how much of a jerk I was being.”
He continued, saying, “Now I just want people to know this is me. I’m just a genuine person who has fun, and I just wasn’t trying to be a jerk.”
Yes, as years have gone by, the precocious youngster from a small town in Ontario, Canada who began as a YouTube viral video star, rapidly grew up before our very eyes, becoming a teen pop music sensation, and then, in the past couple of years, we’ve seen an unraveling. Let’s hope that the adult music artist can emerge intact and stronger than ever.
And, as noted, he played a prank on the studio audience. He wore a highly convincing disguise. As you can see in the video below, he became a heavyset security guard and went about security checks with various members of the audience. No one would have ever suspected his true identity!
