Hudek is a Houston, Texas resident and she has just signed a letter of intent and received a baseball scholarship. She make history as the first woman to play on the men’s team at Bossier Parish Community College.
As such, she is indeed a pioneer in the sport of collegiate baseball. While this is not an absolute historic first it’s a rare occasion that a woman is signed to a male team at the college level.
In this social media age, we heard directly from Sarah Hudek herself Tweeted: “It’s only the beginning.” In a follow-up Tweet, she said, “People will always have something to say negative about my aspirations on the field but no ones comments will change my love for this game.”
As the Shreveport Times reports some of the details of the Sarah Hudek biography that we are all curious to know. Her height is 5-foot-10 and weighs 150 pounds. She is left-handed and throws an 82-mile-per-hour pitch. And she is, as noted, daughter of MLB Pitcher John Hudek. The newspaper quotes the coach, Aaron Vorachek, who said, “This is not a gimmick and I could care less about media attention.” He added, “I’m signing her to help us win ballgames.”
